- human review and quality control

Which products still work? Which workflows become marginal? Which customer segments stop being profitable?

Benchmark cheaper and open models seriously
Not every workflow needs Claude 3.5 Sonnet or GPT-4o-level performance. For many enterprise tasks, lower-cost models now deliver most of the needed quality at a fraction of the cost.
Action: Benchmark each workflow against 3 to 5 alternatives and choose the cheapest model that clears the quality bar.
Plan for the post-subsidy GTM motion
If your product depends on AI-powered features, your commercial model should already reflect the possibility of higher underlying costs.

Google can subsidize AI from other business lines longer than most, but even that is not infinite. Meta can keep consumer AI cheap because ads absorb the pain, but enterprise buyers should not assume they will be protected forever.
As investor pressure rises and vendors move toward profitability, AI pricing will trend toward real infrastructure economics.
That does not mean enterprise AI becomes a bad investment. It means the lazy version of AI planning stops working.
